About

My name is Ian, and I am a second year undergraduate mathematics student at Florida State University. I grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia and attended the International Baccalaureate program at Princess Anne High School. In high school I ran cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. I was (and remain) very fond of nature, cooking, and hard work during high school.

I began to be interested in math during my visit to Virginia’s Summer Residential Governor’s School for math, science, and technology. I attended the class titled “Electron Control: Understanding and Constructing the Fundamental Digital Circuitry of Computing” taught by Dr. John Gardner. During my stay there, which occurred over one month, I interacted with numerous people who inspired me to pursue what I was interested in, which at the time was mathematics, particularly linear algebra. I have been in love with mathematics every since. I also enjoy computing, whether that be the study of the theory or the applications thereof. To get a better idea of where I am in my academic journey, you can view the classes that I have taken and my extracurricular experiences on my resume page.

Outside of my study of mathematics, I enjoy: lifting weights, running, hiking, listening to (mostly jazz) music, and spending time with my friends. I am particularly fond of speaking with people about issues for which we have differing opinions.
